Vietnam Copper Wire Company CFT is a reputable manufacturer of copper wire (Rod/Wire) in Vietnam, established on May 27, 1996. The company was formerly a joint venture between Vietnam Electric Cable Joint Stock Company (CADIVI), Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Japan), and Tomen Corporation (Japan).
Since October 2020, Gelex Electric Joint Stock Company has officially acquired 100% ownership of Vietnam Copper Wire Company CFT, marking a new stage of development for CFT and ushering in an era of Vietnamese intelligence and people.
With a copper rod production line capacity of 54,000 tons/year based on SCR technology from Southwire, USA, CFT is one of the leading suppliers of high-quality and diversified electrical copper wires. CFT’s production processes and product quality strictly comply with Vietnamese and international standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, TCVN, JIS (Japan), and ASTM (USA).
CFT is widely recognized as a leading and reputable manufacturer of bare copper wire in Vietnam, with nearly 30 years of experience in production and supply to major partners in the fields of electric cable manufacturing, magnet wire, and automotive wire both domestically and internationally.
The company was established under Investment License No. 1576/GPĐT, located at D3-3 Road, Long Duc Industrial Park, Binh An Commune, Dong Nai Province. The SCR plant inauguration ceremony took place on June 15, 1999, after 18 months of construction. Mr. Wataru Hayashi, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mr. Vo Van Mot, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, attended and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the 54,000-ton/year SCR copper rod production line.
On December 15, 2002, the SCR line achieved a productivity of 200 tons/day as designed. On July 5, 2004, productivity increased to 300 tons/day after improvements to the casting wheel. Southwire awarded commemorative medals for these achievements.
Celebration of the production of the 100,000th ton of copper rod on May 27, 2005. On this occasion, Mr. Hideo Kubota, General Director, delivered a speech thanking customers for their trust in CFT products.
In 2008, Vietnam Copper Wire Company CFT re-registered under the Enterprise Law (2005) and became a limited liability company with two or more members. The Investment Certificate was issued by the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority (DIZA) on September 8, 2008.
On November 15, 2009, construction of the tin-coated copper wire workshop was completed. In June 2010, the first batch of products was delivered to customers. This investment project diversified products to supply tin-coated copper wire cores for specialized cable manufacturers in the energy, electronics, and automotive industries.
In April 2017, the company implemented the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 quality and environmental management systems, certified by DNV.GL.
Vietnam Electrical Equipment Joint Stock Corporation (GELEX), the Vietnamese partner holding 36.35% of charter capital, officially operated under the joint-stock company model from December 1, 2010. Previously, GELEX was Vietnam Electrical Equipment Corporation (VEC) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
